The responsibilities of the CSS are to prepare financial analyses, develop communication materials for clients, help members and employers navigate the healthcare system, and assist in the back office management of the company. Over time, the goal of the position is to grow into an Account Manager, responsible for managing a book of clients by providing comprehensive strategic solutions in addition to providing day-to-day service of both employer-level and employee-level issues for all clients.

Type of Position: Full Time; Non-Exempt, On-Site Required 

Duties of the Client Service Specialist: 

  •  Bid coverages for new and renewal business and prepare the financial analyses of client coverage options for the Client Managers. 
  •  Handle employee level issues such as eligibility and claims issues. 
  •  Create employee and employer-facing communication materials. 
  •  Assist in preparation for benefit open enrollment and other employee education meetings. 
  •  Review employee applications for completeness and accuracy before submitting to carriers. 
  • Configure and maintain online enrollment and benefit administration portals using our proprietary Human Resource Information System software.  Provide basic compliance support related to employer sponsored health & welfare plans (Healthcare Reform, Section 125, ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, etc). 
  • Assist in building out our database of prospective clients through research, email contacts, and screening calls. 
  •  Develop mutually beneficial relationships with insurance carriers and administrators to generate optimal results for clients 
  •  Contribute original research and written articles to our blog and client education campaigns. 
  •  Attend appropriate industry functions and participate in relevant industry training. 
  •  Develop and maintain an extensive knowledge of insurance carriers and their plans and rules. 
  •  Communicate with teammates, clients, and carriers in a positive manner. 
  •  Prepare written correspondence, reports, and analyses as needed. 
  •  Any other duties as assigned. 


Requirements:  

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in a business or math-related field preferred, or equivalent working experience required, ideally in the insurance or financial industry.  
  • Strong analytical & mathematical aptitude and strong oral & writing skills required. 
  • Must have strong internal and external customer service skills with the ability to develop sound client relationships with multiple clients. 
  •  Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office – Word, Excel and Outlook are essential; PowerPoint desired. 
  •  Organizational and time management skills to prioritize workloads to meet time sensitive deadlines required. 
  •  Must be able to work both as a team on joint projects as well as completely independently, including managing the office alone at times. 
  •  Must have the ability to compile, analyze, and interpret financial information and data to facilitate decision making. 
  •  Demonstrated professional, tactful negotiation and persuasion. 
  •  Must have a demonstrated ability to instill confidence and comfort with clients. 
  •  Possesses leadership skills, a positive attitude and enthusiasm, and the ability to bolster team morale. 
  •  Social media skills, such as LinkedIn and Twitter, as well as web skills such as web-site maintenance and WordPress/Joomla blog posting, are preferred. 
  •  Must have the ability to occasionally travel by car and aircraft and stay more than one day and night on occasion.
